Downloadable Software

Audacity: A free, open-source, cross-platform software for recording and editing sounds. For Mac or PC. All activities on the site are based on the Audacity software and include step-by-step directions.

Downloadable Sound Resources

FindSounds.com: the most comprehensive list of a variety of animal, instrument, and effect sounds. To download, left click on the category name, which takes you to a webpage with a listing of sounds for that category. Then, right clock on a sound name and select "Save As" which will allow you to download the .wav file.     

Discovery of Sound in the Sea: biological and anthropogenic underwater sounds. To download, left click on each sound name, which takes you to a webpage for that sound with background information. Right click on the .mp3 icon and select "Save As" which will allow you to download the .mp3 file.

AnimalSounds.org: animal sounds. To download, right click the animal sound name and select "Save As" which will allow you to download the .wav file.
